Repentance: Means back from disobedience to Allah and obey Him.
The Repentance: Is beloved of Allah, as He says:
"Verily, Allah loves those who repent and those who purify themselves." [Surah Al-Baqara: 222]
The Repentance is a duty for every believer.
Allah says:
"O you who believe! Come back to Allah with sincere repentance!" [Surah at-Tahrim: 8]
The Repentance: Is a means to achieve success.
Allah says:
"And turn ye all together towards Allah, O believers, that you may be successful." [Surah Nur: 31]
Success comes when someone gets what he wants and what he is saved from leaking.
By sincere repentance, Allah forgives sins whatever their size or their number.
Allah says:
"Say: O my servants who have transgressed against yourselves, do not despair of the mercy of Allah. For Allah forgives all sins. Yes, He is the Forgiving, the Merciful." [Sura Az-Zumar: 53]
O my brother who has fallen into sin, do not despair of the mercy of your Lord, because the door of repentance is open until sunrise from the west.
The prophet - peace be upon him and salute him - said:
"Verily, Allah extends His hand at night to accept the repentance of the sinner of the day. And he held out his hand the day to accept the repentance of the sinner of the night (until) when the sun rises from the west. "[Narrated by Muslim]
And how many people have repented to Allah and many enormous sins and Allah accepted their repentance?
Allah says:
"Those who invoke not with Allah another god, nor slay the soul which Allah has made sacred, except in truth, who do not commit adultery - for whoever does it will incur a penalty and punishment will be doubled on the Day of Resurrection, and he will abide therein in disgrace; Except those who repent and believe and do righteous deeds, those Allah will change their sins into good deeds, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. "[ Surat Al-Furqan: 68-70]
The Sincere Repentance: Must meet five conditions (to be accepted), which are:
Sincerity to Allah, the Most High, the person must do so only for Allah and seeking His reward and salvation of His punishment.
Remorse: the sin that was committed, such that he is sorry for what he did and wishes he had never done.
Stop: immediately commit sin.
If sin was against God, so it must (1) stop doing it if it was an unlawful act, or (2) hasten to do so if it was an obligation he has abandoned. And if the sin was against a creature (like men), then he should hasten to free himself by stopping the plague or seeking his forgiveness.
Determination: not to return again to sin in the future.
Repentance does not arrive after the time when its acceptance is complete, by death or by the sunrise from the west.
Allah says:
"Repentance is ineffective for those who commit sins constantly, until death comes to one of them, he said: Verily I repent now."
The prophet - peace be upon him and salute him - said:
"Whoever repents before the sun rises from the west, Allah will accept his repentance." [Narrated by Muslim]
O Allah, grant us the sincere repentance and accept it from us, verily Thou art the Hearing, the Knowing.
